Mphatso Chibota is a versatile rapper (Hip Hopper – as he prefers), goes by the stage name Theko Sigidi (The Knock Out Soldier), commonly known as Sigidi (Means a soldier who has potential of a thousand soldiers). He is is a Malawian, born in Lilongwe, the capital city of Malawi. He got his stage name from the nickname of the old Ngoni king, Chaka Zulu.

Mphatso did his high school at Marist Secondary School, a highly rated secondary school in Malawi in terms of passing rate. He then went on to study Arts Humanities at University of Malawi, Chancellor College. He is currently studying towards his Master in Business Administration at University of Malawi, Polytechnic.

He started rapping when he was in secondary school and consequently performed during ‘secondary school variety shows’ and inter school events. While pursuing his first degree, Sigidi and his friends from Marist formed a crew called “So City” at Chancellor College. So City was a common sight at University and college events. One of their famous tracks in college was So City Yakwiya.

After college, in 2006, Sigidi released his first song titled Boom Diggy, recorded at Low Budget Records (Daredevils). The track was premiered on Gowelo on Power 101 by DJ Lomwe and it was an instant hit. He then did two more tracks at Low Budget, Nasibeka and Hip Hoply Conscious.

Sigidi is working on his first album under Ndefeyo Record Label. He has since released one one song Ndampeza, in which he is rapping about finding his true love.
